EireTech was commissioned by GrainCorp to construct new grain storage and rail outloading electrical infrastructure at Yamala, QLD. The $18.5M Project is part of the Central Queensland Inland Port Terminal which is co-funded by Local, Queensland and Commonwealth Governments. The Project consisted of construction of vertical storage and train loading facilities, the engineered solution was to build a new switchroom and a 400Amp Motor Control Centre with wall mounted VSDs and SCADA system, fully tested and commissioned in Victoria prior to shipment to site for site installation and commissioning.

Air Liquide’s site in Port Botany required the main switchboard to be replaced, the engineered solution was to build a new switchroom with a 2500Amp Main Switchboard installed and shipped to side to replace the existing switchboard.

In 2014, GrainCorp began a $200 million transformation of its storage and logistics network. Representing the single largest capital investment in rail loading capability in the company’s history, Project Regeneration will deliver a more efficient and reliable network for all customers, unlocking lower transport rates and higher grain prices for growers across the network.
This project involves the complete electrical detailed design of the rail out loading facility for a number of sites Australia wide. One of the benefits of a fully automated system is allowing equipment resources and labour to be focused to areas of peak demand, when it is most needed.

Upgrade of Red Hill Crush House and Installation of a new Primary Surge.
Hanson has recently undertaken a $9.1M upgrade of its Red Hill Quarry in Western Australia which contracted out equipment supply, materials handling and mechanical structures, electrical and process control. EireTech was involved in the tendering phase right thru to the commissioning and handover stage, the services provided throughout the project included planning, procurement, electrical engineering, and site commissioning.

Upgrade of Werribee Screen House and Blend Plant Crushing Quarry.
The project saw the completion of a completely new screen house, blending plant and additive bin section all while the existing operation continued without disruption. This was made possible by a professional approach, flexibility and understanding the importance of continuity for Holcim’s operation. The ability to regularly and openly communicate enabled prompt decisions to be made, ensuring project progress. This was especially important when considering the nature of the work, significant wet weather and its impact upon site conditions.
A key component of the project was the interface to the existing plant, which required a complete production plant shutdown. Plant downtime has a major impact on Holcim’s ability to service their customers; hence the shutdown period was always critical. Holcim was very pleasing to have these works completed within the allocated shutdown period. This was particularly notable considering the amount of work (demolition, foundations, steel erection, field electrics and building installation), and limited space available.

This project involved a complete upgrade of the electrical and control systems for the entire treatment plant.
The $25.5 million dollar upgrade has increased the number of people the plant is capable of servicing from 45,000 people to 58,300 people. This will enable the WWTW to manage the increase in flows that occur at the plant during the peak holiday periods.
The upgrade to the Boulder Bay WWTW was officially opened by The Hon. Greg Pearce, NSW Minister for Finance & Services on Friday 4 November 2011. Minister Pearce was extremely impressed by the timeliness and quality of the delivery of this significant piece of community infrastructure. Member for Port Stephens Craig Baumann was also in attendance at the opening and said the Boulder Bay WWTW is now equipped to service the current and future residents and visitors to Port Stephens during tourism peak periods.

The Burwood Beach Wastewater Treatment Works (WWTW) is Hunter Water"s largest wastewater treatment facility, treating an average daily flow of 44 million litres and servicing approximately 180,000 people (25% of Hunter Water customers).
Secondary treated effluent is discharged from the plant to the Pacific Ocean via a 1.5 km long ocean outfall. The Burwood Beach WWTW catchment extends from the Newcastle City area and suburbs to Dudley in the south, Wallsend in the west and Mayfield in the north. The current Burwood Beach WWTW was constructed in 1992 with a design capacity of 220,000 equivalent persons (EP).
The plant has recently undergone a major upgrade to improve the reliability of the existing process and ensure the plant can meet the current license conditions at its design capacity. Stage 2 construction began in September 2009 and has now been completed.

This project involved a complete upgrade of the electrical and control systems for the entire treatment plant.
There are “two” treatment plants on this site. The “original” plant is a traditional trickling filtration treatment system, The new plant is a modern activated sludge treatment system, known as Intermittent Decanted Extended Aeration (IDEA). It is a well proven and economical treatment technology. The new plant does what the old plant can’t do, that is, remove nitrogen - as well as phosphorus - the two nutrients which, in combination, are responsible for algal blooms in receiving waterways, to a very high degree.
The plant has been designed to meet the needs of Lithgow for the next 30 years. It will serve the community well and protect the receiving environment.
